Møns Klint

Møns Klint is a very popular destination, and it’s easy to see why! The beautiful white cliffs that rise above the sea are something special – and not just on a Danish scale, but internationally as well.

Why travel to Bali or South America to experience the magnificent scenery, when it can be experienced in Denmark? Yes, the chances of good weather may be a bit better, but the sight of 128-metre snow-white cliffs rising above the turquoise sea along the 7 kilometres of coastline simply can’t be found anywhere else in the world!

Denmark’s first UNESCO biosphere area

With the appointment as Denmark’s first biosphere area in the summer of 2017, UNESCO lists Møn and the neighbouring islands as a unique place in the world. A place of outstanding natural beauty, where the locals manage to live and work in a sustainable collaboration with their environment. Within the area, you can discover the most important Danish ecosystems both on land and in the water, as well as a wealth of rare animal and plant species, which is precisely one of the characteristics of a biosphere area.

White cliff coasts with a unique history

70 million years ago, a lot of algae turned to chalk, which was a prerequisite for Møns Klint existing at all.

Go fossil hunting along the cliff beach and find 70 million-year-old fossils, belemnites and amber. You are allowed to keep what you find, but GeoCentre Møns Klint has launched a record attempt approved by the Guinness World Record association to bring together the largest collection of belemnites, so you’re very welcome to donate your findings to the centre’s collection and perhaps help secure the record.

GeoCentre Møns Klinttells the history of Møns Klint in a fun and interactive way, where children and adults can compete with knowledge and test the forces of nature in a miniature format.

Experiences at Møns Klint

Møns Klint is home to many diverse natural experiences, and is therefore a very popular place for active nature lovers who want to challenge themselves in one way or another. You see, you can test yourself on land, sea and in the air.
