Holtug Chalk Quarry

Until 1972, Holtug Chalk Quarry, was active. In 1991 the pit was sold to the state who made it into a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.

In the pit you can find a broad variety of rare and preserved plants along with amphibians and reptiles as lizards and adders. Holtug chack pit is also a good place to look for fossils.

It is possible to come down to the coastline without the use of a staircase.

When you visit Holtug Chalk Quarry the best place to park the car is Mandehoved 10, 4660 Store Heddinge. From here you can enjoy the beautiful walk to Holtug Chalk Quarry via Stevns Klint Trampesti or easily rent a country bike and cycle via the country road to Holtug.
