Recreational Fishing on Zealand

If you’re visiting Zealand and you plan to fish, there are plenty of information to be found on Fishing Zealand’s website. Fishing Zealand continually works on improving and developing the fishing possibilities throughout the region – in a sustainable way.

At Fishingzealand.dk, you’ll find spot guides to hundreds of different coastal fishing spots across Zealand. Furthermore, it’s a great place to connect with local fishing guides who are extremely knowledgeable about the local conditions. You’ll also find plenty of inspiring information and videos about which gear to bring - and what fishing methods to use. Lastly, you can track down local events by checking out the frequently updated blog.

Chasing seatrout along the Danish coastlines is a deep-rooted and long-lived tradition. This special fishery, which is mostly practiced waist-deep in a pair of waders, has turned into somewhat of a national signature sport. Coastal fishing for seatrout is highly popular among Danish fishermen but it has also come to be a well-known phenomenon internationally. As a result, many fishermen from abroad visit the Danish coastal regions to target seatrout. Zealand is particularly popular, and – consequently - lots of beautiful chrome seatrout are caught here every year.

Sustainability is an ongoing theme in everything that Fishing Zealand engages in, and “The Zealand Gravel Gang” is an important part of the project in this regard. The main objective of the Gravel Gang is to intensify the river restoration- and fish stock management efforts on Zealand in order to enhance the living conditions of the seatrout that spawn in Zealand rivers. Ultimately, this valuable work increases the amount of fish in the rivers and along the coastal shores and makes for better fishing possibilities for local- as well as visiting fishermen. The Zealand Gravel Gang is a joint cooperation between Fishing Zealand and Denmark’s Sport Fishing Association. You can learn more about The Zealand Gravel Gang here.

Apart from seatrout, Zealand is home to lots of other exciting fish species such as mackerel, garfish, cod, flounders, and herring. A lot of these species can be caught all year round – while others are seasonal guests. You can learn a lot more about this by visiting Fishing Zealand’s website or by reading the latest edition of “Fishing Zealand Magazine”, which can be found here.
