Gavnø Castle is a beautiful fairy-tale castle in the Rococo style, built more than 600 years ago. The castle originally served as a convent for aristocratic virgins, and today is one of Næstved’s landmarks, offering lots of exciting events all year round. Take the tour around the castle, where among other things, you will find Scandinavia’s most colourful church room in Slotskapellet, the castle chapel. Then arrive at Northern Europe’s largest private collection of paintings, containing about 1,000 pieces – including some of Scandinavia’s oldest preserved portraits from around 1460. Move on to explore the special exhibition and discover the completely renovated and beautiful halls and rooms.
